Your feedback

We read every comment we receive from our online surveys and suggestions boxes.

Wherever possible, we make the changes that you request.  Given the increasing limitation in our resources this can often take some time but be assured that we do listen and have a long list of improvements that we will continue to implement.

Below is a list of comments / suggestions - and our responses

Windows need to be open in waiting room

All the windows can be opened in the waiting room - just ask a receptionist
If it is a hot day - then we can put on the air conditioning to cool the room.
If the air conditioning is on - then the windows will need to be closed for it to work

Windows need dressing in waiting room

We are not allowed to have blinds as they could trap dust
We agree it would look much nicer if we could have some curtains or blinds up
We are also not allowed to have plants as they also trap dust and the soil could be a source of infection.

Pictures in the waiting room

We agree that there needs to be more decoration in the waiting room.
We are sorry that we have not had resource to dedicate to making this space more inviting
We have put up stencils for the children's area
We are hoping to install a TV screen for messages and information - however NHS technology policies and increased costs are making this more difficult for us to put this in place than we would like.

Waiting Room - layout

There is a limited amount that we can do.  It is important for all the chairs to be placed where people can see the appointments board.

Making appointments for particular categories of people

Quite a few comments suggested that we block off appointments at certain times for certain groups - for example, early or later appointments only for workers and day time appointments for retired people.  We understand that although it seems like a good idea, in practice it would not be workable administratively or technically and would not allow us to treat all our patients equally.  If you are feeling unwell and you work - then your employer should allow you to take time to attend a GP.

Water machine in waiting room

Coffee machine in waiting room

It is too expensive to provide a water machine in the waiting room given our current resources - sorry
If you are feeling unwell and need water, please ask one of the reception team and we can bring you a cup of water.

There is a OneStop shop across the road from us if you wish to bring any liquid refreshments whilst you wait.  We cannot afford to install a coffee machine.

Alcohol Gel

There is an alcohol gel dispenser at the entrance to reception.
A new dispenser will be coming soon near the touch screen for booking in.

Music in waiting room

We have tried all sorts of different types of music and radio stations in the waiting room.
If the music or radio station is bothering you - please just ask reception to change it / turn it up / turn it down etc!

Magazines in waiting room

It is not ideal to have magazines in the waiting room as they can be a source of infection for others.
Also, they tend to disappear quite quickly and are left around very untidily and often are torn and damaged
We suggest that you bring something to read that you like!

Ticker Screen upstairs

Unfortunately the ticker screens cost thousands of pounds to purchase and hundreds of pounds to install and have annual maintenance costs.  We cannot afford a second ticker screen.  We agree - it is a really great idea and if we could afford it we would have one!

Waiting times are too long

We are really sorry when you have to wait a long time for your appointment.  However, please think why it is that you might be having to wait a long time ...
Someone before you may have just had some difficult news, someone may be urgently ill and the Doctor may be arranging for them to have an ambulance or go into hospital (this can take 30 mins or more).  If two patients have had to go into hospital in one morning before you - then that will have taken an hour ...

Unfortunately, our reception team will not know how long you may have to wait for your appointment as they will not know what is going on in any particular doctor's room at any time.
